Interesting though I don’t think a handshake is that rare from what I’ve seen.

UK avoids contact whenever possible – no handshake or hugging! Just “How are you”.
And the formal ritual in Germany is much more complicated, it also depends on age and rank who extends hands first. The formal greeting is “good day” (or good morning/evening). “Hallo” is informal, and comes with a hug or a kiss on the cheek.

also men kiss each other on occasion like Christmas if they are good friend or family from my experience
